The WEST AFRICAN ASHANTI STOOL, also known as the Akan stool, is meticulously hand carved from a single piece of wood. These stools were created by the Ashanti people, part of the Akan people living in Ghana and Ivory Coast (Cote D'Ivoire), alongside the Fante and Baule. Originally used in homes and schools, they also held significance in ancestral shrines and were even carried in processions to represent royal lineage.
Each stool boasts intricate carvings and is not only comfortable to sit on, but also versatile enough to be used as a footstool or placed beside a bathtub. These stunning tribal pieces have a bit of cosmetic wear, adding to their charm, but are still structurally sound.
