ABOUT ARTIST
Tonly Evans (1932-2019) was a Welsh-born artist, scientist, and professor who gained fame for his American raku pottery. In the late 1970s, he established Evans Ceramics Inc. in California, where he utilized innovative glazing techniques and drew inspiration from ancient artifacts for his creations.
With a notable career teaching at prestigious universities like Harvard and Princeton, Evans' one-of-a-kind works are highly collectible and widely displayed.
His style was heavily influenced by his time spent in Japan and Korea, each of his handcrafted pottery piece bears a unique serial number (e.g., #211, #65) and signature, enabling easy identification within a specific style, model, or collection.
